Center Pin Float Rods

Use a BulletBobber or DualFin with a Center Pin Reel and Float Rods to steer your bait or lure. BulletBobbers

Center pin reels, Trout Floats, Crappie Floats and float rods were designed specifically for float fishing in currents and the long drift tactic. You can use this tactic with any rod and reel to some degree for many species but the down side to any set up is always the same. You are subject to the currents and have very little control where the current will carry your float and bait. Often the current will keep throwing you off to one side, out of the current toward snags or shore requiring you to reel in. It is a simple point: If you can’t stay in the current you can’t move down stream any further. By using BulletBobbers or DualFins you are never out of the game. You can use there planing action to get in and out of the current when and where you want and dodge obstructions. You can move a bait or lure to a more favorable lane or hold a location. You can get them to stay beside an outfall of fast current where fish often wait for food much of the time. You won’t ever need to reel in all the way until you catch a fish.

If you are into more then just drifting and reeling try slip rigging the BulletBobber. You can steer your bait into a calm spot and let it drop to the bottom.
