Center pin reels, Trout Floats, Crappie Floats and float rods were designed specifically for float fishing in currents and the long drift tactic. You can use this tactic with any rod and reel to some degree for many species but the down side to any set up is always the same. You are subject to the currents and have very little control where the current will carry your float and bait.
